The Improving Operational Performance framework incorporates three pathways that equip apprentices with the basic skills and knowledge to carry out a range of engineering and manufacturing processes at semi-skilled and operator level.
Results is delighted to offer the Business-Improvement Techniques pathway which ensures that business processes are planned and executed as efficiently as possible, identifying and, minimising waste whilst ensuring the highest quality.
Many companies are introducing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques in order to improve productivity and competitiveness. It is essential that these techniques be employed in the face of stiff international competition and severe austerity measures.
It is no coincidence that the highest performing companies in the UK are those that train their employees in the latest business-improvement techniques. Between 1998 and 2007 Gross Value Added productivity (GVA) per employee in the engineering sector saw a significant improvement from £35,100 to £51,500 per employee, an increase of 47%. Similar productivity improvements will be needed in all sectors to ensure we remain internationally competitive.
Aims and objectives of this framework (England)
· The introduction of a Business Improvement Techniques (B-IT) pathway will benefit organisations across all sectors where there is a need to review business processes in order to identify and eliminate waste and to improve quality
· The framework will ensure apprentices can undertake all operations safely and effectively
· Improve overall operational performance through improving skills
· Improve productivity rates and thus profitability (GVA per employee)
· Tackle the diversity issue, especially under representation of women
· Tackle the carbon footprint by maximising efficiency and eliminating waste.
